Welcome to Meribel

Winter Sports

The Three Valleys are simply awesome. Located at the heart of this amazing region, Meribel forms the hub of the biggest pisted ski area in the world with 600km of ski runs. Whether you’re a seasoned skier, or it’s your first time - Meribel will not disappoint. With an unparalleled number of snow cannons (1,500) and over 200 lifts servicing the 3 Valleys, skiing and snowboarding possibilities are endless. Meribel, on its own, boasts 15 gondola lifts and 19 chairlifts to whizz you effortlessly to the top of the mountain. If you’re brave (or mad) enough and want to claim bragging rights, the world-famous “Grand Couloir” off the top of the Saulire ridge that drops down into Courchevel is a ski bucket list must. Meribel also boasts a fantastic reputation for providing a range of alternative activities for anyone who is coming out but not skiing or snowboarding. Meribel really does have something for everyone and for every age. Ice-skating, a gym, a health spa, ten-pin bowling, helicopter rides – the list goes on!

Apres Ski

If offering an awesome ski area wasn’t enough, Meribel is a resort that just keeps on giving. How about celebrating an epic day of skiing in some of Meribel’s après bars? Regularly in the Top 10 list of après-ski bars to visit, The Rond Point is a lively, bustling slope-side bar that draws in all and sundry with seductive live music and an electric party atmosphere. The ‘Ronnie’ however has been given a close run by its neighbour La Folie Douce – located at mid-station Saulire. Head here if you want the ultimate in alpine partying – but beware…there is still the ski down afterwards. Having finished skiing for the day, it doesn’t all have to be about liquid refreshment - a skiing holiday is the perfect excuse to stop counting calories so why not treat yourself to the creamy, smooth delight of a cheese fondue, or perhaps even a Savoyarde raclette, with potatoes, mountain meats and gooey local cheeses melting into a taste sensation.

Meribel Centre

Known not only for it’s world class Skiing, Meribel is on the map for its après ski, restaurants, and shopping too. There is as much to do off the slopes as there is on. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, lover of extreme sports, or simply enjoy relaxing in the breathtaking mountain surrounds, Méribel has something to offer everyone. Transport doesn’t have to be an issue in or around Meribel either, with a designated free ‘Navette’ or shuttle bus, you can leisurely negotiate the resort, dipping in and out of the range of shops, cafes or patisseries – and with a regular service of around a bus every 12-15 minutes, you won’t be waiting around for long. Come the evenings, and Meribel is showered with musical talent. Wander into many of the local bars and you’ll be sure to find a band or a DJ playing into the early hours. In Meribel, you can relax as little or as hard as you like!

Chalet Cuisine

We want to offer you all the convenience and luxury of the catered chalet experience, without the cost. So we’ve connected with Huski, the alpine meal delivery service. Huski brings delicious, home-cooked food to your door. So you can ski more, relax more, and spend more time with your friends and family.

Created in the mountains but very much a digital culinary playground aimed at taking the stress out of your ski holiday. You order online, sit back and wait for delivery. You don’t miss a minute’s skiing, as the delivery will always be at a time to suit you.

Children

Skiing is a great family activity, and once your little ones have mastered the basics, it won’t be long before they’re whizzing past you down the mountains.

However, until that time, you’ll want to make sure they have a great holiday and are well looked after – we know only too well that a happy child will make for a happy holiday for you!

Most ski schools start children skiing from the age of 4, although ESF run a kindergarten for 3 to 5-year-olds that include playing about on skis. At this age, they normally can manage a couple of hours on the slopes before they tire and want to go home. Luckily in Meribel, there are other activities for little ones to enjoy – from tobogganing to swimming

What are your childcare options? If your kids aren’t skiing all day, and you are, then you have various choices: (Grandparents are very good options, unless, like ours, they, end up taking your 6-year-olds down black runs for fun!) There are three companies we recommend:

Meribel Nanny Services pride themselves in understanding exactly what you need to ensure you have a relaxed enjoyable holiday knowing your children are safe and happy. They offer anything from a full week’s booking to just a night’s babysitting. For more information call or email Nicole.

Snow Angel Nannies offer you a nanny who comes to your chalet and looks after the kids on a weekly basis. They will look after babies and children from 3 months old upwards. They also offer babysitting.

Merinannies are a nanny and babysitter finding service. You pay them an agency fee and they’ll find you a nanny. These nannies tend to be more flexible and should be able to work hours to suit you (usually with a 4-hour minimum each day)

Alternatively, the French Ski School, ESF run two play-schools: Les Piou Piou Kindergarden with fun on snow-covered playgrounds. Les Saturnins Day Nursery is also an option with indoor and outdoor activities.

If you wanted a private nanny on an ad-hoc basis – for some mornings or a couple of afternoons, then talk to us. We know many suitable in-resort nannies who can look after your children as and when you need them. The more notice you give us the better, as they do get booked up. We can also arrange babysitters if you want to go out on your chalet hosts’ night off. This can normally be sorted out the week before your holiday.
